Introducing our newest backpacking meal for 2025: Pierogi Pouch. Inspired by the classic Polish dish, this comforting one-pot meal is packed with carbohydrates, fat, and protein to keep you full and warm.
Typical pierogi are dumplings filled with a variety of ingredients, such as potatoes, cheese, sauerkraut, meats, mushrooms, and even sweet fillings like fruit. Our version is made for adventure travel, using lentils for protein and cabbage for sweetness, with the classic trio of mashed potatoes, cheese, and chives. Instead of encasing the filling by a dumpling, we serve the filling unstuffed with pasta. If Pierogi transformed into a casserole, this would be it!
Like any Outdoor Herbivore’s backpacking meal, preparing the Pierogi Pouch is simple. Boil water, add the hot water to the pouch (or transfer it to a serving bowl), stir, and let the flavors mingle for 8 minutes
